Thanks to your generous donations and the always excellent effort of the State Archives Microfilm Lab, we now have a total of 696,000 NC land grant loose document images (“shucks”) online at http://nclandgrants.com. This represents around 2/3 of the total shuck images, and we hope to have them all online by the end of this summer. The total number of images on the website is now 800,000.
The order currently being digitized includes Macon County which has a whopping 36 reels of images. Also included are Caldwell, Mitchell, and Washington, as well as the Tennessee counties of Carter, Tennessee, Washington, and Wilson. The order after that will include Buncombe and Onslow, and will complete all the donations received in 2021 where a specific county was designated.
Please note that the images are not directly link to a grant, but you will be guided to the general area in the digitized microfilm where you can find them, oftentimes right on the mark.
